Check with the company that is doing the testing to see what exactly they test for, they may have different options that will meet your concerns.

CITY WATER
The EPA enforces city water testing on a regulatory basis, and they do have procedures in place to notify the public of contamination or other issues that may array. The most concerns with city water are the taste and, of course, the quality. Chlorine is used to rid bacteria, and fluoride is added in elected cities to help strengthen peoples’ teeth from tooth decay. These additives and older pipes play a part in how water tastes.
Not only do you want your water to taste good, but you also want your hair and skin to feel good. Adding water softener will make you feel more comfortable in your skin. It does however have a slight salt taste due to the resin beads, which are used to remove the calcium and magnesium and other hard minerals. Hard water can also cause stains to appear in your sink and tub and toilet.
