Choosing the house that you will call home is a daunting task. Let’s discuss home design. One or more floors? Well, if you have a large family additional floor will provide separation from noise and more privacy. If you are middle age and this is your forever home, I would suggest a single floor home so that you don’t have to be concerned with stairs as you approach the golden years.
Another thing to consider is the layout of the windows. One of the best advantages in a home is the ability to obtain free heat from sunlight. South facing windows allow the best opportunity for light to warm the home in the winter months. Since we are on the subject of free heat if considering solar panels, you should do some mapping as to where those will work the best in your yard. I will go over some basic information on the Solar Options page.
If you don’t have city water or sewer, you will have to have a well drilled and install some type of septic system. You would have to check with the city on what types they allow for your area. Efficiency is determined by the space that’s available and the soil for drainage. Then add installation and servicing costs and maintenance costs.
